Elio Chiarelli, Jr. is the son of Elio and Nancy Chiarelli of McDonald, Pennsylvania. Elio was originally a member of the H. G. Parkinson FFA Chapter in Washington County. He currently lives and performs many Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE) on his family's 110 acre farm. His SAE's include growing 7,200 pepper plants, an acre of sweet corn, and 100 tomato plants as a trial for both Pennsylvania State University and The Western Pennsylvania Vegetable Growers Association. He also raises 20 market lambs, four market hogs, 100 laying hens, 50 guinea hens, 75 broilers, 30 turkeys, and ten ducks.

Elio was also very active in his home chapter by serving as Treasurer for three years and President his senior year. His Career Development Events (CDE) include Prepared Public Speaking, Parliamentary Procedure, Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Forestry, Wildlife, Meat judging, Dairy Food, and Record Book Contest. Elio has qualified for national contests twice, once for Parliamentary Procedure, and the second time for Prepared Public Speaking. He was also selected for three state winning proficiency awards and two national proficiency awards. Also with his record books he was selected as the Western Region Star in the area of production. In his local chapter, Elio was selected for the star chapter award, the Penn West Region III Farm Credit award, The Dekalb Award, and many others too numerous to mention.

As the Pennsylvania FFA State President, Elio has been selected for the Big E State President Internship and the Chairman of the National FFA Publications Committee. Chiarelli has also been awarded over $15,000 in college scholarship money.

In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking, camping, hunting, sporting clay, fishing, horticulture, volunteering at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, working at a local lawn and garden center, golfing, volleyball, announcing high school football games, archery, and educating others about the FFA.
