PENNSYLVANIA FFA ALUMNI

What is the FFA Alumni?

Agriculture teachers rely on FFA alumni members to help ease the outside commitments of teaching, bring more support to agricultural education programs and give teachers more freedom to do what they do best - teach kids!

FFA relies on alumni members for student recruiting, scholarship money, aiding in camps, conferences, national FFA convention and other personal development programs. The high level of commitment the FFA Alumni offer the National FFA Organization and the communities in which they live helps make FFA students' lives better.

Who can be a member?

You didn’t have to wear the "blue jacket" to join the National FFA Alumni Association!

Whether you were a FFA member or not you can join the National FFA Alumni Association and be a part of an organization that prides itself in helping make FFA students’ lives better. Your commitment helps ensure the continued success of America’s premier youth leadership organization.

Membership is open to anyone who supports FFA and agricultural education. As a member you will take an active part in building your community at the local, state, and national level. Your commitment helps ensure the continued success of America's premier youth leadership organization.

Your decision to become an FFA Alumni Member starts a chain reaction of benefits – for you, for today’s FFA members and for future generations of agricultural students.

Why charter a local alumni chapter?

With the increased diversity of agricultural education programs, it is becoming more difficult for advisors/teachers to keep up with all the additional activities.  Former FFA members and interested adults are a natural resource of help and support.  Focus is on new technology in agriculture and agribusiness, therefore it is important to involve all types of people in your community.  An FFA Alumni Affiliate can unify the local community to support agricultural education and FFA activities and provide valuable assistance to agriculture advisors.  With the FFA Advisor coordinating activities, the Alumni can provide hands, hearts, and minds to ensuring success.

How to start your local alumni chapter?

1.    Find someone to help coordinate and organize the organization on the local level.

2.    Identify potential members.

3.    Develop a tentative constitution and bylaws based on the National FFA Alumni suggested forms.

4.  Call a nucleus meeting to review purposes, define membership, set goals, and assign  duties.

5.    Publicize an organizational meeting that is open to the public or a larger group than before.

6.    Contact your State FFA Alumni coordinators for information on chartering your  chapter.

7.    Publicize the results to all local media.  Exposure equals success!!
