September 2009

I can’t believe it! Another amazing month has already passed us by and now it finally happened - we started doing one of the things that I remember most from state officers past, chapter visits! We started them as a team on the sixteenth of September with the whole team traveling to Bermudian Spring’s high school to try on our first workshops. I was a little nervous but with time, practice and seeing how my teammates worked their magic, I too became more comfortable and now I’m ready for all the visits that the year has to offer. After getting our feet wet with chapter visits we got in our huge fifteen passenger van and left for the Big "E" where we got to take in some New England culture at the massive fair grounds just outside Springfield Massachusetts. Throughout the week the other officers and I got to help out with some of the CDE events by keeping time and directing contestants on where to go and what to do. After watching the stars presentation everyone attended a dinner at the Sheraton Hotel in Springfield where all the contestants were rewarded for all their hard work. Congratulations to all the teams who participated at the Big "E" and if you are headed to national convention good luck and safe travels. I would also like to wish our national officer candidate Britney Marsh good luck on her run to become a national officer!! After a great time at the Big "E" we got to attend the All American Dairy Show where we got to assist with handing out awards and filling out ultrasound cards for the winners all while seeing some of the best dairy animals from all over the state and the country. After another new experience at the All American dairy show we had our annual AFY conference at Gettysburg area high school where we had a great time learning how to better team members and officers by setting goals for ourselves and learning just how important our individual offices and teammates are to our chapters. Now that I've been home for a few days I am very excited for my next chapter visit with Tyler Funk at Greenwood and then Summerset CTC so watch out guys - Here we come !!!

August 2009

Well I can honestly say that I never thought I would get to be the state sentinel but, I’m so glad that I am I have already done so much while representing the members and its only august . From teaching children and adults about the FFA and helping at the foundation food stand at Ag Progress days to job shadowing with some of our friends at the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture August has proved to be just as great as the months before it and I can’t wait for what is yet to come.

July 2009

Well here we are , my second month as a state officer has been even more amazing than the first! From our first conference with the members at the Western Pennsylvania leadership conference (WPLC)) to having a great time with all the Ag Teachers at the Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Educators conference (PAAE)). Just as I got to slow down after all of that we went straight to the Monsanto for FFA golf tournament where we had a great time by helping set up a great golf tournament for our FFA partners and supporters. Then to end this already great month we spent some time helping our new Partners at the Penn Atlantic Nursery Trade Show (PANTS)) set up for their annual show near Philadelphia and we got to meet some awesome people along the way. Now that all of this is done I finally sat down and realized that this is just the beginning!!!

June 2009

I can’t tell you just how excited I am to be your new FFA State Sentinel. I’m honored to serve the Pennsylvania FFA Association . I have only been a state officer for one month and I’m so glad I chose to run. I love being a state officer already and there are still eleven months to go!. The other officers and myself can’t wait to start meeting more members and having even more fun than we already have. I can safely say for the first time in my life I LOVE MY JOB!!.
